Trips, bubbles and cups

Sorry for the delay with updating the blog.

Here is a quick photo update of what the children have been doing in the last 3 weeks. We have visitied the Science museum where the children had a chance to explore the indoor garden and the pattern pod. The children and parents which came were fantastic on this trip.

In class the children have had a chance to experiment and make coloured bubbles using straws. They have also started to write golden sentences by remembering to start their sentence with a capital letter, end with a full stop and remember their finger spaces.

Both Diamond and Platinum have had so much fun with the stacking cups. This has developed their Physical Development and helped with their problem solving with Shape, Space and Measure.

Take a look at the photos below.

Sounds of Music

During this half term we will be focusing on sound. We would like the children to recognise and explore how sounds can be changed, recognise repeated sounds and notice any sound patterns.

Listen to the following sounds. Comment on how the sounds change throughout the music, whether sounds are repeated and if they recognise any patterns. We know this can be tricky so children may need to hear the sounds on more than one occasion.

Aspiring Artists and Crazy Chefs

The children have enjoyed getting messy and creative. Last week the children made cheese straws. They enjoyed making and eating them and so many parents have requested the receipe. It will be posted on the blog very soon.

Both classes were introduced to two French artist's, Monet and Matisse. The children had a go at creating their own versions of Monet's 'Bridge over a Pool of Water Lilies' and Matisse's 'Snail', although many of the children created Butterflies in the same style.

Take a look with your children and leave your comments below.
